Mbita MP Millie Odhiambo and the Attorney-General (AG) have been allowed to file evidence in a case where the legislator has been sued for allegedly insulting President Uhuru Kenyatta.
High Court Judge John Mativo directed the MP and the AG to file within seven days their defences in the case by Philip Njuguna Waruthi.
Justice Mativo, who declined to order Ms Odhiambo to apologise to the President and Kenyans within 48 hours, said the constitutional issues raised by Mr Waruthi require urgent disposal as “they touch on the President, who is a symbol of unity.”
Mr Waruthi seeks to have Ms Odhiambo, her agents, servants or otherwise restrained from uttering derogatory words that demean President Kenyatta.
